Madden NFL 23 is the latest installment in the long-running soccer video game series, releasing on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms on August 19th. Madden is a year-on-year bestseller, with a steadily growing player base.
Madden 23 will be the first game in the series to release after the death of its namesake, John Madden, in late 2021. The Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster will be celebrated with a new game cover. Madden last provided color commentary for the series in 2009. He was replaced by Sunday Night Football commentator Chris Collinsworth, both in-game and in the broadcast booth.
Like last year’s Madden, Madden 23 will feature an upgraded AI and physics engine called FieldSense for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. FieldSense affects nearly every interaction on the field, from tackles and clashes at the line of scrimmage to touch passes and matchups between a receiver and his defensive back.
The Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions of the game don’t use Field Sense, but benefit from quality of life changes to the game’s AI, animations, and playbooks.

Madden 23 will be released on August 19th and is available for pre-order now. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S editions are priced at $70. The PS4, Xbox One, and PC editions are priced at $60. Players who purchased the Xbox One or PS4 editions can upgrade to the current-gen version for $10 after purchase.

A special digital version of Madden 23, called the All Madden Edition, can be pre-ordered for $100 and includes dual entitlements for both the current and final generation versions of the game.
All Madden Edition pre-orders also include 3 days of early access. This means you can start playing the game on August 16th without waiting for the official release date. The All Madden Edition also includes 4,600 Madden Points that can be used to customize your avatar and Ultimate Team mode.
Does Madden 23 have other pre-order benefits?
Customers who have pre-ordered Madden 23 can get some bonuses by purchasing the game early. Includes all Madden gear, Madden Strategy items for use in Ultimate Team mode, and two elite Ultimate Team players from your favorite NFL team.
