Anthony Scully scored one and the other as Lincoln earned their first win of the season in a 2–1 win over Oxford at Kassam Stadium.

Skipper Tom Hopper gave the Imps, who had drawn their first three games of the season, the lead in the 21st minute, with Scully’s cross for their second goal of the season.

Scully then produced magical footwork that dug the ball up in a tight area in stoppage time in the first half and shot into the top right corner.

United brought in new signing Kyle Joseph on loan from Swansea on the hour and referee Sam Barrot awarded a penalty five minutes later when Max Saunders roughed up the striker in the box.

Cameron Branagan converted it following an injury delay and sent Jordan Wright in the wrong direction.

Branagan shot wide from long range in the first half before City defender Lasse Sorensen sliced Billy Bourdain’s cross into the hands of the keeper.

Wright made a spectacular close-range save to turn Branagan’s drive around his post early in the second half.
