Prefecture Address August 19

Mayor Matt Hall will give the community’s final address on August 19 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Westin Carlsbad Resort and Spa. Over 500 business, civic and community leaders gather to discuss the current state of Carlsbad Her community and share ideas for planning a successful future. New Chamber of Commerce Members Announced

Sean Flannery, co-owner of Max Lux Media, has joined the board of directors of the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce. Since 2021, Max Lux Media has been providing video production and photography for small to medium area businesses. Company offerings include videos for recruiting staff, product launches, and improving internal communications. Max Lux works with local nonprofits to make fundraising more effective. “The Principle of Magic and the Universe” Featured at the Event

The San Diego Northern Economic Development Council will host the first North County Spotlight Luncheon on September 21 at 11:30 am at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. This is planned as an annual opportunity to hear from one of the region’s leading entrepreneurs about his business journey. At this event, Michael Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner’s, will speak on “How Magical and Cosmic Principles Are Transforming Business Practices.” Tables and tickets are now available. $750 for a member table (10 seats) and $1,000 for a non-member table. Military summit open to exhibitors

The 2022 San Diego Military Summit brings together the military and business community for a day of workshops, speakers, exhibitors and networking. The summit will be held on August 24 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Baker Club House at 2400 Baker Road in San Diego. Training workshops offered by SCORE

SCORE San Diego volunteers are experienced entrepreneurs, business owners, and executives from a variety of industries and specialties offered at small business training workshops. For $25, a client can take a 2-hour workshop to him a 3-hour workshop at SCORE San Diego, 8825 Aero Drive, Suite 102, San Diego, or Zoom. PDF of presentation; link to final workshop video. Thursday: Engage your audience with your video. Audiences search for videos, engage with them, and make decisions based on them. Stories and videos get your message across more effectively than any other piece of content, but you have to do it right.

Friday: Business Model Canvas. This interactive workshop will help you create your business model canvas. This is a visual chart with blocks that describe the company’s value proposition, customer segments and relationships, key activities, revenue streams, channels, cost structure, key resources and partners.

August 19: How to write a business plan. Discover what a successful business plan takes. Learn how to put your vision on paper in a way that convinces investors, lenders, and yourself that you can succeed.

Regional Connect Event with Football Added

The North San Diego Business Chamber will host a community connectivity event on Wednesdays from 4-5:30 pm at the University of San Diego’s San Diego Royal Soccer Club, 5998 Alcala Park, and San Diego’s Torero Stadium. Planet Fitness Offers Free Workouts For Teens

Boot camps for entrepreneurs offered

Entrepreneurship and Adversity Community Bootcamps are offered on six Saturdays in September and October for people in difficult situations looking to grow or start a business. Camp will be held September 10th through October 15th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Salvation Army Kroc Center at 6845 University Ave. in San Diego. Presented by San Diego State University Rabin Entrepreneurship Center and Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Studies. The program is part of the Urban Poverty and Business Initiative (Urban Poverty and Business Initiative), a partnership between universities and colleges to help people in underserved communities start and grow successful businesses. Ice cream shop opens in North City

Winston’s Ice Cream has opened its official flagship store in the North City neighborhood near San Marcos, California. Chris and Sarah Wynn took an incubator opportunity at the Union Cowork office in North City and started an ice cream shop. They now have a full size ice cream churning facility at 250 N. City Drive, Suite 7. Among their frozen offerings is “For the Win Chocolate” ice cream, which won the North American Ice Cream Association National Blue Ribbon this year. Other common flavors include Old Reliable (vanilla), Cookies In Cream, and Blue Moon. The store also offers seasonal flavors and dairy-free versions. Hours are noon to 10pm daily.
