Early morning fire at Mesquite business causes part of building to collapse – St George News

Mesquite, Nevada — A Mesquite laundry facility reportedly caught fire around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, and Mesquite Fire and Rescue put the blaze out before it spread.

An official Mesquite Fire and Rescue media release did not specify which structure burned, but one social media post said it was located at 810 W. Mesquite Blvd. in Smokey Lane near the Casablanca Resort and Casino in Mesquite.

According to the news release, “on arrival, the crew could see flames coming out of the roof and heavy smoke billowing in front of the building.”

Facilities management reported that the building was secured on Monday and that no one has entered since. The news release also said the building’s structural integrity was compromised by the fire.

“A defensive attack was the safest option for responders and multiple hoselines were laid to extinguish the fire and protect the surrounding area,” spokesman Capt. Spencer Lewis said in a media release. .

The fire was extinguished in the building, no other buildings were affected, and no injuries were reported.

Part of the building collapsed, and firefighters were still preparing to go to the scene at 8am. Severe damage was seen.

St. George News reached out to Mesquite Gaming for comment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
