Angel Foster of Island Olive Oil said: I got all the different flavors of the dark basalt mix and the light basalt mix. ”

Stepping into one of the two Island Olive Oil stores in Ward Center or Kailua is like stepping into a specialty store from Italy or Greece.

“It’s got a little green almond, but also a little cinnamon and paprika. Piqua will have a more Spanish-inspired oil, like that green tomato grass,” says Foster.

Angel Foster said that taking over the business was a natural progression and that three of her favorite things came together. her love of food, travel and sharing.

“My background is in arts and education, so I love explaining and educating people on how to cook recipes and stuff like that,” said Foster.

Angel said she wants to be more than just a retail store, she wants to interact with customers and share her love of cooking.

“The really fun part about this business is working with customers and teaching recipes in cooking demos, classes, etc. I started working with chefs and caterers, and it was a lot of fun doing live demos and cooking demonstrations.

But then COVID hit, and like many other businesses, she had to turn.

It turns out that a whole new channel for doing business has opened.

“Yeah, instead of making a cooking demo video that we couldn’t do it, we had to change it and make some quick adjustments. We started creating channels,” says Angel.

“The response has been amazing. Everyone loves quick videos, and we strive to keep the pulse of different food trends and make them highly accessible, delicious and easy for home cooks to make,” said Angel said.

Another change that was born out of necessity was to offer drive-thru pickup.

With so many flavors to offer, Angel says her favorite part of her job is being able to help everyone from novices to experienced cooks find their a-ha moments in the kitchen. Told.

“People can be intimidated by all the different flavors, but we show them different combinations, different tastings, and help the simplest home-cooked table add many fun and interesting accents to the dish.” You can even
