Hospital PMI^® is a composite index calculated from equally weighted indices such as business activity, new orders, employment, and supplier deliveries. The Diffusion Index is a leading indicator in nature and is a useful summary indicator that indicates the general direction and extent of change. Hospital PMI^® Index readings above 50% indicate an overall expansion of the hospital subsector. Less than 50% indicates an overall downward trend. For sub-indexes excluding supplier deliveries, index readings above 50% indicate an overall expansion of the sub-index. Less than 50% indicates total shrinkage. A supplier delivery index above 50% indicates slow delivery, and below 50% indicates fast delivery.
