Heartland Produce Company Named Kenosha County Business of the Year

Heartland Produce Co., Ltd.The Kenosha-based agricultural wholesale company recently completed construction of a new $29 million headquarters facility on the site of a former dog truck at Dairyland Greyhound Park. Kenosha Regional Business Alliance.

Heartland Produce focuses on the list of winners of KABA’s annual Ovation Awards. After a two-year hiatus, the award recognizes Kenosha County’s top performing companies and businesses, his leaders, and their support of the community. Winners are selected by a selection committee that includes representatives from previous Ovation Award winners, KABA staff and board members, BizTimes Media, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Gateway Technical College, and Carthage College.

Founded in 1989 in Elgin, Illinois, Heartland Produce Co. moved to the Kenosha Industrial Park in 1994. This family-owned business sells fruits, vegetables, organic foods, and locally grown produce to grocery stores. Earlier this year, the company completed his $29 million investment in building his 200,000-square-foot distribution and headquarters facility at Greenway Corporate Park on the site of Dairyland Greyhound Park. The company moved to this facility in his May, and he invested more than $1 million in the new facility.

The company deals in Zinc, Zinc-Cobalt, Tin, Phosphate and Passivation. There are 6 plating lines operating 3 shifts, 5 days a week.

Herzing Universitywill move its Kenosha campus to downtown Kenosha in 2020. Based in Milwaukee, Herzing is a founding partner of the KELA-Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy. This new building and program will work directly with underserved youth in Kenosha.

Kenosha Creative Spaceis a Kenosha non-profit organization committed to providing economic opportunities to local artists, musicians, creators, entrepreneurs and local partner organizations.

landquest realtyis a Kenosha-based property developer who purchased one of Kenosha’s oldest buildings, the former Weiskopf School, and converted it into apartments. They have also redeveloped other buildings into apartments.
